Deerand, released on September 19, 2024, marks the quartet's debut on the esteemed MoonJune Records label and their most ambitious work to date. Clocking in at approximately 56 minutes, the album was captured live during an inspired two-day session on December 20-21, 2022, at La Casa Murada Studio in Banyeres del Penedés, Spain, by engineer Jesús Rovira.

Produced by the band alongside frequent collaborator Markus Reuter (touch guitar on most tracks), with additional post-production by Reuter, mixing by Stefano Castagna, and mastering by Erik Emil Eskildsen, it features prog luminaries Tony Levin (NS upright bass on "Mirror Side," Chapman Stick on "Allegro per il Ré") and Reuter throughout. The result is a spellbinding continuum of tension and release, where minimalist repetitions build to orchestral swells, evoking the eerie suspense of film scores and the hypnotic grooves of global fusion.

At Studio Shizaru, we're passionate about weaving cultural narratives into contemporary visual languages, drawing from the rich tapestry of Iranian heritage to create designs that resonate on a global stage. Our latest collaboration with Quartet Diminished on their fourth studio album, Deerand (MoonJune Records, 2024), exemplifies this approach. This avant-garde project not only celebrates the band's innovative sound but also embodies the Persian concept of "deerand"—the duration or sustain of a musical note—through a cohesive identity that stretches time, tension, and tradition into something profoundly modern.
